3-Stage Assessment Approach

The SURPASS assessment methodology is built on an iterative, tiered approach that aligns with the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of your innovation. This ensures that the assessment is always relevant, practical, and proportionate to the data you have available.

The three stages are:

  • Early Stage: At this stage, you have many design possibilities and a high degree of freedom. The assessments are therefore simpler, often qualitative, and require less data. This is ideal for initial screening and identifying major hotspots without a significant investment in testing.

  • Mid Stage: As your project matures and you narrow down your options, the assessments become more detailed. This stage requires more quantitative data to help you discriminate between the most promising SSRbD alternatives.

  • Late Stage: When your product design is nearly finalised, a comprehensive and data-intensive assessment is required for final validation. This provides the robust evidence needed to support your material's safety and sustainability claims.
